ACTICA release DDR3 memory modules in 512MB and 1GB for the speed of 1066 and1333 MHz

 ACTICA Inc., manufacturer of mission critical server memory products, today announces the release of DDR3 memory modules.

Based on the current JEDEC specification, ACTICA’s DDR3 memory modules are designed to support Intel Bearlake chipset platform, P35, G35, and X35, and AMD’s upcoming K8L quad-core processors in the beginning of 2008.

ACTICA DDR3 memory modules are currently available in 512MB and 1GB for the speed of 1066 and1333 MHz, and higher speed modules of up to 1600 MHz in the future. The new DDR3 module has a 240-pin configuration, with a notch 48 pins from one side. This pin configuration separates DDR3 from DDR1 and DDR2 modules so it can not be accidentally placed in DDR1 or DDR2 memory slots. 

The new DDR3 memories have many great advantages over DDR2:

  • - Lower power consumption: consuming up to 30% less power than DDR2 of 1.8V by using 1.5V when both perform the same task.

  • - At least twice the bandwidth: double performance by using DDR3-800 up to 1600MHz instead of DDR2-800MHz and transfer data speeds of up to 25.6GB/s.

  • - DQ shielding, self calibration and fly-by topology for better signal control: DDR3 modules offer better signal control than DDR2 resulting from DQ shielding, self OCD and a fly-by command/ address/control bus with on-DIMM termination for better data reliability.
